Minority AIDS Project is the first community-based HIV/AIDS organization established and managed by people of color in the United States. Archbishop Carl Bean and members of the Unity Fellowship Church founded MAP in 1985.
Minority AIDS Project’s mission is to reduce suffering and deaths due to HIV infection in the African American and Latino communities by making HIV/AIDS related health services and education available and accessible to them.
THELMA HOUSTON earned $20,000 for MAP

Thelma Houston's music lives
on from the memory of her hit "Don't Leave Me This Way," which won her a Grammy.
Whether on her name or on the power of her performance, Houston won the week's showdown over such past flashes as Greg Kihn, Club Nouveau, Glass Tiger ("Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone")
and Billy Vera.
For the victory, Houston earned $20,000 for the Minority AIDS Project ! |
